Nurses report a rise in violent meth patients
Many nurses report that meth patients are the most violent patients they have ever seen.
A thread in the all-nurses forum is a-buzz with nurses from all over chiming in on the rise in meth patients they have personally had to deal with lately. The original poster actually mentions that she is noticing an increase in the age of meth users as well. With one such patient in his 50’s having his daughter bring him meth during his hospital stay.
This isn’t the first time it’s been reported that meth related injuries and subsequent hospital stays are on the rise.
Could this be a result of poor economical condition?
A sign of the times?
A lack of community awareness?
All of the above?
In any case - nurses are adding even more stress and dangerous scenarios to an already stressful line of work. I truly commend the nurses and doctors who have to deal with people that are hallucinating or just completely spun out of their mind from meth use.
